We gave a 9-year-old 12x4m concrete pool in Westmere a full renovation over 3.5 weeks. The job covered new Ezarri Peridot glass mosaic tiling, a natural stone coping upgrade, and a fresh interior, plus upgraded plumbing, filtration and lighting. Total project value was around $47,000 + GST.
Artisan Stone & Tile works across inner-city Auckland, where sections are tighter and the finish expectations are high. This Westmere pool is a good example of both.
At nine years old the pool wasn’t badly worn, but the finishes were dated and the client wanted a sharper, more current look. On an inner-city section like this, access is tight and there’s no room for mess, so the job had to be planned and run cleanly from day one.
We scoped a full retile, a coping upgrade to natural stone, and a plumbing and filtration refresh, and delivered it in 3.5 weeks.
The tiling is what makes this pool stand out. We retiled in Ezarri Peridot glass mosaics, a green-leaning tone that shifts between teal and jade depending on the light and the sky.
Paired with the interior colour, it gives the water a distinctive green-teal quality you don’t see on a standard blue pool. Ezarri’s mounting system gives a strong bond to the wall, and we set every tile on an epoxy grout system so the grout survives the waterline chemistry. More on our process on the swimming pool tiling in Auckland page.
We upgraded the pool edge to natural stone coping. Stone brings warmth and texture that suits a landscaped inner-city backyard, and every piece is a little different, which is part of its appeal.
We removed the old edge, prepared the bond beam, and set the new coping in a splash-zone adhesive for a solid, natural finish. For the full range, see our pool coping stones page.
At the time, we finished the interior in Hydrazzo Bimini Teal polished plaster, which is what gave the water its green-teal depth alongside the Peridot tiles.
We’ve since stopped using Hydrazzo, as the supplier is discontinuing it at the end of 2026, so we no longer recommend it. For a resurface today we’d specify a preblended, polymer-enhanced render, which is harder and more resistant to chemical etching than older plaster marble, or a fully tiled interior. See our pool renovations Auckland page.
We upgraded the plumbing, filtration and lighting as part of the job. Better filtration keeps a 12m pool clear without constant chemical topping up, and new LED lighting turns the green-teal tiling into a feature at night. It’s the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the finish looking new for years.

Westmere and the surrounding inner-city suburbs have plenty of established pools on compact, landscaped sections. Owners here usually want a renovation that sharpens the look without the disruption of a rebuild, and tight access makes a careful, experienced crew worth having.
We work across central Auckland, including nearby Remuera. Every job is trade-certified, uses BRANZ-appraised materials, and is backed by 37 five-star Google reviews.
